to Goodwin University’s 2023-2024 academic year. Each summer as we prepare our school catalog, it seems appropriate to take stock of where we stand as a university, as a workforce, as a nation, and as a global community. The past few years have ushered sweeping changes into every area of our lives - and higher education is most certainly no exception.
I believe one of the positive outcomes of these challenging times is that learners have become increasingly introspective about their education. College is no longer the simple “default option” it once was. Individuals considering higher education are acting with purpose and intention: what life goals do they hope to achieve and what supports will they need to achieve them? How will they balance their academic responsibilities with the other important areas of their lives?
They are realizing that each academic journey is unique, and the more options they have before them, the better they can act as true self-advocates for their future successes. As president of Goodwin University, I am incredibly heartened and inspired by this new age of purpose-focused learning, and I am so honored that you have chosen to join us.
Whether you are pursing your degree on ground or online, at the undergraduate or graduate level, I urge you to take advantage of all that our community offers to grow as both a scholar and a world citizen.
