MSN 500 - Theoretical Basis for Advanced Nursing Practice and Leadership Credit(s): 3
This course provides the student with knowledge of theoretical foundations and frameworks for advanced professional nursing practice. Emphasis is placed on analyzing the theoretical basis for decision-making in evidence-based practice, leadership, and advanced practice nursing roles. Concepts will include ethics, morality, social justice, self-awareness, creativity, vision, critical decision-making, consensus-building, and collaboration. Students will learn the role of the advanced professional practice nurse within health care systems and in leadership. Ethical strategies to employ in advanced nursing practice and ways to advance the practice of nursing through evidence-based practice are examined.
