The following “mission statements” were removed from the Concentration pages for the three Master’s in Public Health Concentrations.
COMMUNITY HEALTH MISSION STATEMENT
Students are exposed to the important social and environmental determinants of health and develop pragmatic methodological skills in community assessment, evaluation, and research. The Community Health curriculum empowers the future public health workforce to improve the health of diverse communities and reduce health inequities through innovative scholarship and direct community engagement
GLOBAL HEALTH MISSION STATEMENT
The Global Health Concentration is designed to train professionals to solve public health problems locally and globally while providing students with skills to advance the health and well-being of populations in diverse settings. Students will gain skills in the development, implementation, and evaluation of public health programs and projects that are aligned with local culture, contexts, and resources.
HEALTH POLICY AND MANAGEMENT MISSION STATEMENT
Students in the Health Policy and Management Concentration develop, identify, and translate the best available evidence to inform critical public health policy challenges at the local, state, national, and global levels. The concentration is relevant to those currently working (or who aspire to work) in public health policy and practice settings at the intersection of evidence, decision-making, and implementation; and who seek training to meaningfully impact the dialogue about how to solve public health problems.
Per CEPH, these changes will help facilitate the accreditation process.
APPROVAL OF CHANGE
The changes were reviewed and approved by Goodwin Universities Academic Affairs Committee on October 10, 2024.
