NUR 302 - Foundations of Professional Nursing

This course provides the student with the opportunity to explore several ways of knowing and distinguishing the role of nursing from other disciplines. Students will apply theory and evidenced-based knowledge from nursing, the arts, humanities, and other sciences to form the basis for clinical judgment and innovation in nursing practice. Emphasis is placed on creating effective communication skills with patients and teams, analyzing nursing’s contribution to a culture of patient safety, applying knowledge of systems and technology and evaluating the cost-effectiveness of care. Students will develop and reflect on strategies that foster personal health, resilience, and well-being as they advance their professional identity as nurses.

 

This course is for those students in the ABSN program.
