OTA 214 - Principles of Adult Populations and the Occupational Therapy Assistant Credit(s): 4
This course presents the pathophysiology, etiology, clinical signs and implications for intervention of various conditions seen in adult disabilities across practice settings, in a problem-based learning approach with didactic and hands-on activities. Students study the principles and practices of occupational therapy for adults with physical and psychosocial disabilities. Students are provided with an overview of various practice models employed in working with adults with disabilities. The student will explore the therapeutic intervention process utilizing the occupational therapy practice framework. The methods of adult treatment and reimbursement available to the occupational therapy practitioner within the context of healthcare and the community are addressed. Lecture and Lab.
