NUR 433 - Community and Public Health Nursing

This course focuses on the client as a healthcare consumer and member of a community. Emphasis is placed on the nurse’s social responsibility as a citizen who advocates for the attainment of health equity for all. Integration of community and population health principles will direct clinical management of diverse populations across the age continuum through the lens of the social determinants of health.   Students will explore the role of the nurse in meeting the needs of diverse communities. In addition, they will create a proposal for a practice change to improve nursing care for the chosen community based on a focused assessment.
