MSN 675 - PMHNP II: Advanced Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Care for Children and Older Adults Credit(s): 7
This course is the second in a sequence of three mental health clinical courses through the lifespan for the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner student. This course provides opportunities for students to promote wellness and disease prevention for pediatric and older adult psychiatric clients. Students will integrate advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment incorporating pharmacological and non-pharmacological recommendations, and evaluation of common and chronic mental health disorders. Students will apply knowledge from nursing and other sciences into a safe, quality, person and family-centered advanced nursing practice. Students will work within teams to further their interprofessional partnerships and leadership capabilities. Emphasis will be placed on advanced communication, healthcare technology and informatics in direct and indirect roles to work toward optimal client outcomes This course includes 180 hours of a precepted clinical component in approved mental healthcare settings.
