MSN 685 - PMHNP III: Advanced Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Care of the Complex Patient

This course is the final course in a sequence of three mental health clinical courses through the lifespan for the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner student. The emphasis is on health promotion, disease prevention and wellness for the complex psychiatric client. Care will include a focus on specific populations such as persons with diverse sexual, gender and other self-identities, intellectual disabilities, and chemical dependence. Students will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of complex disorders including pharmacological and nonpharmacological recommendations.  Students will promote a safe environment to enhance quality and minimize risk of harm. Students will work within teams to further their interprofessional partnerships and leadership capabilities.  Emphasis will be placed on advanced communication, healthcare technology and informatics while in direct and indirect roles to work toward optimal client outcomes.  This course includes 240 hours of a precepted clinical component in approved mental healthcare settings
