MSN 660 - FNP I Advanced Practice Through the Lifespan-Primary Care of The Adult Client Credit(s): 7
This course begins the sequence of three primary care courses for family nurse practitioner (FNP) students, emphasizing care of the adolescent through adult across the lifespan. A clinical precepted practicum of 180 hours working with adult clients in approved primary care settings is included. Integrating and applying new and established, evidence-based nursing and other disciplinary knowledge, the FNP students will focus on acute common and chronic primary care of adult clients. There is an emphasis on wellness, disease prevention, health promotion and compassionate, person-centered, holistic care. Building upon NUR 650 differential diagnosis course, FNP students will learn principles of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient healthcare needs. Family theory, care of populations, and quality and safety are emphasized. Nursing scholarship is integrated, and leadership skills are honed as FNP students learn and utilize informatics. . Interprofessional skills are enhanced to support patient care and learn the process of referrals.
