MSN 540 - Physical Assessment for Advanced Nursing Practice

This course builds upon undergraduate health assessment knowledge and skills to develop higher proficiency physical assessments across the lifespan. MSN and APRN students will achieve competence in performing complete and focused physical examinations and complete and focused patient histories using virtual clients through computerized software. A holistic approach including psychosocial, spiritual, cultural and environmental assessments is emphasized. Students will learn skills in appropriate documentation, begin to formulate diagnoses and develop plans of care. All students will provide video demonstrations of their assessments of specific body systems. FNP students will also use synthetic models during the on-campus immersion experience.
