In this three semester, 24-credit Robotics and Automation Technician Certificate program, students will be introduced to robotics and automation concepts used in manufacturing, supply chain, and retail operations. Students will learn the basic concepts for maintaining, troubleshooting, and programming automated systems that include hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, and how they work to create an automated or robotic system. Understanding motor controls and programmable controls (PLC) as they relate to the automated process is essential. Participants are introduced to computer-aided design (CAD), industrial robots, and programming for robotic and automated systems.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:

  1. Explain the process of automation and the equipment involved in its operation.
  2. Program basic automated digital; and mechanical systems.
  3. Apply basic manufacturing shop math principles and formulas to automation problems.
  4. Implement preventive and predictive maintenance processes and operations for robotic and automation equipment.
  5. Complete troubleshooting on automated and robotic equipment.
  6. Apply safety techniques to ensure a safe working environment while following industrial safety standards.
  7. Read and construct technical documents for robotic and automated processes.
