Computer-Aided Design Technician Certificate

In this three semester, 18-credit Computer-Aided Design Technician certificate program, students will use SolidWorks in conjunction with blueprints to create 3D models of parts, and will use Mastercam and blueprints for creating models and G-code for use on CNC machines. Areas of focus of the program include reading and understanding blueprints, creating 3D models in SolidWorks and Mastercam, and creating measurement routines with PC-DMIS.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:
- Create simple CAD drawings using Solidworks or other design software.
- Construct detailed blueprints and 3D models.
- Develop skills in creating CAM programming for the creation of G code
- Interpret and construct technical documents for mechanical and electrical processes.
- Write basic program code for a coordinate measurement machine (CMM) and operate a CMM.
Graduation Requirements
Students must complete all the graduation requirements as stated in the catalog, Students must maintain a GPA of 2.3 or higher in the coursework.
