Universal Instructional Design Graduate Academic Certificate

In this fully online, Universal Instructional Design graduate academic certificate, students will learn how to proactively apply the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to create inclusive, accessible, and flexible learning experiences. Intentional application of UDL to your instructional design practice or to the (re)design of learning experiences can afford all learners not only equal access to content but also the same opportunities for success. The certificate curriculum provides hands-on experiences with applying the UDL framework to design learning experiences in different modalities including in-person, online, and hyflex.

This academic graduate certificate is suitable for pre-K-12 teachers, instructional coaches, higher education faculty, instructional designers, and professional developers in business and industry who are seeking to advance in their careers.

All courses are asynchronous online and must be taken in order as listed in the plan of study.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:

  1. Select an instructional design model that is appropriate for their professional practice.
  2. Apply the UDL framework throughout the instructional design process.
  3. Create authentic learning experiences that are tailored to their professional practice.
  4. Evaluate alignment among instructional components: (a) goals and learning outcomes, (b) learning assessments, (c) teaching methods, and (d) learning materials.

Graduation Requirements

Students must complete all general graduation requirements as stated in the catalog. Students must complete all courses with a minimum grade of “C” or higher.
