NUR 217 - The Wellness Continuum for Adults I Credit(s): 6
This course provides the student with the opportunity to care for adults experiencing disruptions in health status associated with acute and chronic health conditions. The student will apply evidence-based knowledge and skills to the care of adults with alterations to nutrition, fluid and electrolyte balance, metabolic, respiratory, cardiac function, and clients experiencing perioperative procedures. Students will conduct comprehensive assessments, identify problems, and make sound clinical judgements to help clients maintain wellness and achieve restoration to previous levels of wellness with a focus on preventing further alterations in health status. Students will use information and technology to implement and evaluate safe, competent care that is patient centered utilizing a holistic approach. Emphasis is placed on effective communication with the patient, significant others and the interprofessional team while students apply research-based knowledge from nursing, the sciences, and other disciplines including ethics, legal and human rights.
