MSN 605 - Current Concepts and Professional Roles in Advanced Practice Nursing

This course explores concepts integral to the role of the advanced practice nurse. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice, population health, quality, safety, informatics, and the role of the advanced practice nurse as a leader. Aspects of licensure and future role(s) of the professional advanced practice nurse at the local and national levels are analyzed. Informatics, electronic health records, billing & coding, interprofessional collaboration, independent practice, and business ownership are explored. Culture, bias, and ethical considerations of care within systems are analyzed. Students will apply legal and business principles and regulatory guidelines for the advanced practice nurse.
