NUR 210 - Families and the Wellness Continuum

This course introduces the student to the concept of family-centered care. It focuses on the care of childbearing families. Physiological, psychosocial and spiritual dimensions of developmental stages of patients and families are explored, and community-based resources are emphasized. Students learn to use the nursing process to promote and maintain health, prevent alterations in healthcare status, and restore patients to previous levels of wellness. Nutrition, pharmacotherapy, patient teaching and ethico-legal issues are integrated throughout the course. Clinical experiences are provided in acute care settings, in the simulation lab, v-clinicals, and alternative clinical assignments.
