Master of Public Health, Community Health Concentration, M.P.H.


Mission Statement

Students are exposed to the important social and environmental determinants of health and develop pragmatic methodological skills in community assessment, evaluation, and research. The Community Health curriculum empowers the future public health workforce to improve the health of diverse communities and reduce health inequities through innovative scholarship and direct community engagement

Community Health Concentration Outcomes

By the end of this program, the student will be able to:

  1. Analyze the roles, relationships, and resources of the entities influencing community health
  2. Apply ethical approaches in community health research and practice 
  3. Apply monitoring and evaluation techniques to community health programs, policies, and outcomes
  4. Propose sustainable and evidence-based multi-sectoral interventions, considering the social determinants of health specific to the local area
  5. Design sustainable workforce development strategies for resource-limited settings

Graduation Requirements

Students must complete all MPH program curriculum requirements. Graduate programs require that all grades applied toward the degree be “C” or better. The grade of “C- “cannot be used to satisfy degree requirements. The minimum cumulative grade point average necessary to continue graduate studies is 3.0 and the minimum semester grade point average to continue graduate studies is 2.0.
